Technical Specialist, Functional Safety Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Lead functional safety system requirements, functional decomposition, safety concepts, and vehicle architecture activities.
• Review and approve HARA, Functional Safety Requirements, Technical Safety Requirements, validation tests, and other safety work products.
• Lead SOTIF requirements for autonomous driving and core subsystems.
• Develop functional safety processes, tools, readiness metrics, and program-level safety activities.
• Define safety interfaces and review safety agreements with suppliers and external partners.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, design, validation, and management teams to ensure automotive systems meet safety requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of ISO 26262 and experience delivering major functional safety program work products at an OEM or Tier 1.
• At least one year of experience performing SOTIF analysis and developing related work products.
• Minimum eight years of experience as a functional safety engineer or in a related role.
• Experience with functional safety tools such as Medini or APIS IQ and requirements management tools such as Jama.
• BS degree or higher in computer science, electrical, electronic, mechatronics, or another engineering discipline.
• Permanent United States work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in Agile development and related tools.
• Knowledge of CMMI and Automotive SPICE.
• Experience developing embedded system hardware or software.
• Advanced engineering degree.
