TL;DR
Senior Actuarial Manager, Pricing (Insurance): Leading pricing bases, product terms, experience investigations, and pricing governance for group protection insurance products with an accent on actuarial analysis, risk controls, and commercial judgment. Focus on reviewing pricing assumptions, monitoring emerging risks and presenting recommendations to senior forums while coaching actuarial colleagues.
Location: Hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Office locations are Dorking, London, or Basingstoke, UK; Dorking is preferred.

What you will do
- Lead the setting of central pricing bases and agree product terms across Group Income Protection, Group Life, Group Dependants, and Group Critical Illness products.
- Own pricing reviews, annual experience investigations, and recommendations for changes to pricing assumptions.
- Monitor emerging risk trends, new money rates, expenses, and cost of capital, recommending pricing adjustments within risk appetite.
- Prepare reports and present pricing recommendations to pricing governance groups and senior committees.
- Partner with Financial Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, and DT&T to translate pricing insight into commercial decisions.
- Provide line management, technical guidance, and coaching to actuarial students and newly qualified actuaries.
Requirements
- Qualified actuary with strong post-qualification experience, ideally in life, health, or protection insurance.
- Strong pricing experience, including reviewing assumptions, investigating experience, and making recommendations in a complex commercial environment.
- Degree-level education, ideally at 2:1 or above, in a mathematically or statistically focused subject.
- Strong numerical, data analysis, pricing model, IT, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance technical rigor with commercial judgment, manage competing priorities, and deliver under pressure.
- Leadership capability to coach and develop actuarial colleagues.
