TL;DR
Lead Engineer, Systems (Aerospace): Maintaining the technical integrity and production performance of jet propulsion systems with an accent on system-level issue resolution, cross-functional integration, and sustaining engineering. Focus on investigating non-conformances and test anomalies, coordinating root cause analysis and corrective actions, and improving producibility, reliability, and configuration control.

Location: Onsite at the Knoxville, Tennessee facility, United States. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance are required.

What you will do

  • Lead system-level investigations and resolutions for production, assembly, test, quality, and product-performance issues.
  • Evaluate non-conformances, test anomalies, engineering dispositions, and design changes for impacts on requirements, interfaces, reliability, and product integrity.
  • Integrate mechanical design, aerothermal, controls and accessories, electrical, test, manufacturing, and quality disciplines.
  • Coordinate root cause investigations, fault trees, causal analyses, corrective actions, and verification plans.
  • Support requirements management, traceability, verification, validation, configuration control, and engineering change activities.
  • Identify improvements to product producibility, reliability, maintainability, repeatability, and sustaining-engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Approximately 10 years of experience supporting aerospace products or systems.
  • Experience providing engineering support to manufacturing operations, quality inspections, and integrated supply chains.
  • Proficiency with additive manufacturing, process optimization, design for manufacturability, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, production quality systems, and process control in high-compliance manufacturing environments.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with jet engine design principles and turbomachinery components.
  • Experience with production quality systems, audits, and process control.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing process methods and design-for-additive guidelines.
