TL;DR
Staff Engineer, Electrical Systems Advanced Manufacturing (Aerospace) (Electrical Systems/Aerospace Manufacturing): Leading the development, integration, and production support of electrical and avionics systems from prototype through full-rate production with an accent on manufacturability, process development, and production readiness. Focus on designing manufacturing processes for wiring harnesses, PCBAs, power systems, batteries, sensors, and mission-critical hardware, while solving root-cause issues and improving reliability.

What you will do

  • Lead manufacturing engineering activities for electrical and avionics systems from prototype through full-rate production.
  • Develop and optimize processes, tooling, work instructions, production flows, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria for wiring harnesses, EWIS, PCBAs, avionics, power systems, batteries, sensors, and navigation systems.
  • Partner with design engineering on DFM/DFA, manufacturability, reliability, testability, and producibility improvements.
  • Drive root-cause investigations, corrective actions, failure analysis, and reliability improvements for electrical manufacturing issues.
  • Support supplier qualification, process validation, production readiness reviews, and transition of new products into manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and test engineering teams while mentoring junior manufacturing engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting complex electrical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with wiring harness manufacturing, EWIS standards, PCB/PCBA manufacturing and assembly, electrical integration and troubleshooting, and aerospace or defense electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process development, production scaling, DFM/DFA principles, root-cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.
  • Experience in prototype manufacturing within a startup or rapid-growth environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have

  • IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 familiarity and knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Experience supporting flight hardware, mission-critical systems, automated test systems, or electrical validation.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems, manufacturing data analysis, and CAD software.
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
