Divisional Portfolio / PMO Lead (AI)

Location: Garching, Bavaria, Germany; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days a week. Travel of up to 50% may be required, domestically and/or internationally.

Salary: €138,550–€179,300 gross annual base salary, with possible variable compensation and allowances.

What you will do

• Lead the divisional Portfolio Management Office and manage Portfolio Managers and PMO professionals.
• Govern and oversee Digital, AI, and technology initiatives, including delivery commitments, risks, dependencies, budgets, and resource constraints.
• Establish portfolio planning, prioritization, investment review, project lifecycle, and delivery governance practices.
• Develop executive dashboards, KPIs, and reporting on portfolio health, delivery performance, financial status, and business outcomes.
• Partner with executive leadership, Product Management, Engineering, Finance, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve delivery challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement, standardize project management practices, and build organizational delivery capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, plus 8+ years of relevant PMO, portfolio management, or program management experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading project managers, PMO professionals, or cross-functional delivery teams.
• Experience managing enterprise portfolios, strategic programs, governance, resource planning, budgeting, and project execution.
• Experience with organizational roadmaps, operational plans, executive reporting, portfolio metrics, vendor management, and external service providers.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including work with senior leadership.
• Baseline familiarity with using AI to improve efficiency, problem-solving, and quality.

Nice to have

• PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum, or other project and portfolio management certifications.
• Experience with large-scale Digital, AI, technology, or business transformation programs.
• Advanced proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar portfolio management and reporting tools.
• Experience working in global, matrixed organizations with diverse stakeholder groups.
