Senior AI Engineer – Notebooks (AI)

Location: Remote from Portugal

Datadog develops observability products, including Notebooks for collaborative data analysis, technical documentation, incident postmortems, and runbooks.

What you will do

• Design and deliver AI-powered product experiences for Notebooks and adjacent surfaces.
• Develop systems combining deterministic product capabilities with LLM-powered experiences to provide trustworthy and explainable outcomes.
• Partner with Product and Design to translate customer problems, adoption signals, and roadmap goals into technical decisions and iterations.
• Build integrations that enable Datadog capabilities to operate within third-party AI platforms, agents, and conversational environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while establishing AI engineering best practices.
• Build, operate, and support reliable backend services in the critical path of customer deployments, including on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with Go, Python, or similar systems programming languages.
• Hands-on experience delivering production AI-powered products and customer-facing experiences using LLM technologies.
• Strong product mindset with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer outcomes and business impact.
• Experience building reliable systems that manage model non-determinism through evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, and operational excellence.
• Ability to work remotely from Portugal.
