CNC Machinist

Location: On-site in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia; site address: Shed 2/46 Airport Dr, Wellcamp QLD 4350

Salary: AUD 85,000–97,000 per year

What you will do

• Operate and program manual and computer-controlled turning and milling equipment according to engineering drawings and instructions.
• Complete product, repair, inspection, job, time, and equipment documentation accurately.
• Train and mentor apprentices and shop personnel while supporting operational communication.
• Maintain gauges, measuring equipment, machinery, infrastructure, and daily records.
• Report equipment faults and assist with fitting, maintenance, and general workshop duties.
• Support client and project diversification initiatives and undertake shift work as required.

Requirements

• Current and appropriate trade certificate.
• At least five years of experience operating and programming metalworking machinery in a customer-focused manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of steel grades, machining characteristics, and manual and computer-controlled turning and milling equipment.
• Current relevant licenses, including forklift, large wheeled loader, and company vehicle, plant, or equipment operation licenses as applicable.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing, 5S, waste elimination, and visual communication.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and physical fitness appropriate to the role.
