Residual Markets Underwriter - Workers Compensation Insurance

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States

Salary: $57,900–$95,600 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do

• Underwrite and independently manage an assigned book of workers compensation business.
• Review, investigate, and analyze risk information, classifications, exposures, and premium pricing.
• Identify underwriting discrepancies and ensure appropriate coverage and premium accuracy.
• Support bids, direct assignment contracts, and client retention through effective account management.
• Build relationships with state plan administrators, regulatory authorities, agencies, insureds, and business partners.
• Provide guidance on underwriting exceptions and resolve complex premium and system issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or two years of related experience.
• Three years of insurance experience, preferably in underwriting.
• Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products, preferably workers compensation, assigned risk, or commercial insurance.
• Sound judgment, critical thinking, risk evaluation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while understanding customer needs.
