Commercial Lines Underwriter (Property/Casualty Insurance)

Location: Tallahassee, Florida, United States. Initial training is in person, followed by potential work-from-home flexibility based on job responsibilities and leadership approval.

What you will do

• Apply commercial insurance coverages, rules, and guidelines to make underwriting decisions.
• Learn insurance contracts, policies, manuals, forms, endorsements, and underwriting procedures.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of commercial risks.
• Assemble information, develop opinions, and communicate underwriting decisions using sound judgment.
• Communicate with independent agents and internal associates by phone and in writing.
• Complete the company’s underwriter training program for the assigned insurance line.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent direct experience in property and casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and continually develop product knowledge.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
