Simulation Software Engineering Intern - Summer 2027 (Aerospace)

Location: In person at the headquarters in Torrance, California, for a minimum 12-week internship

Salary: $30–$40 per hour; housing and travel stipend may be available

hirify.global develops high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from low Earth orbit to deep space.

What you will do

• Develop physics-based software models for spacecraft propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications subsystems.
• Write drivers for simulation hardware and build tools for rapid deployment of reliable code.
• Analyze data and investigate anomalies to identify and resolve software bugs.
• Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing.
• Own a software engineering project end-to-end and support on-orbit spacecraft operations.

Requirements

• Development experience in Rust, C++, or a similar compiled language.
• Coursework or experience in numerical methods, ordinary differential equations, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.
• Availability for a minimum 12-week, in-person internship at the Torrance headquarters.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with scientific Python, Julia, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Experience creating hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop simulation systems.
• Experience with Monte Carlo simulations, probability and statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, controls, or orbital mechanics.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery, Linux systems programming, or driver development.
• Basic knowledge of electronics, computer architecture, and control systems.
