TL;DR
Director, Head of Value, Evidence & Access (Health Economics): Leading Japan HTA preparation, submission, negotiation, and market access evidence generation with an accent on cost-effectiveness analysis, healthcare policy, and cross-functional strategy. Focus on building market access capabilities, shaping access decisions, managing teams and budgets, and engaging regional, global, and external stakeholders.

Location: Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan; hybrid

What you will do

  • Lead Japan health technology assessment preparation, submission, and negotiation.
  • Assess the likelihood of Japan HTA designation during long-range forecasting and other decision-making processes.
  • Build the Japan market access evidence generation strategy in alignment with local, regional, and global priorities.
  • Work with pricing, policy, new product planning, medical, R&D, commercial, and global market access teams.
  • Develop relationships with industry associations, academia, and key opinion leaders, and support HTA policy engagement.
  • Manage budgets and lead, develop, and build a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in health economics or market access within the healthcare industry.
  • In-depth understanding of the Japanese government and its healthcare and social insurance strategy.
  • Knowledge of health economic analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and evidence generation methodologies.
  • Experience building teams, managing people and budgets, and working in complex matrix organizations.
  • Business English is required.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, prioritization, decision-making, and business strategy skills.

Nice to have

  • Higher degree in pharmacy, health economics, outcomes research, health services research, public health, or epidemiology.
  • Japanese language skills.
