Medical Strategy Lead (NTM) (Pharmaceutical Medical Affairs): Leading medical strategy, JMAP planning, scientific exchange, governance, and clinical development activities for Insmed’s Japan business with an accent on pharmaceutical strategy, regulatory collaboration, and cross-functional leadership. Focus on translating scientific insights into medical affairs tactics, coordinating Japan-specific IND/NDA activities, and supporting compliant engagement with experts, investigators, and authorities.
Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with weekly flexibility and occasional domestic/international travel of approximately 15%

What you will do
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership, internal business partners, commercial functions, and external stakeholders to plan and execute brand strategies and JMAP activities.
- Lead the development, implementation, coordination, and governance of Japan Medical Affairs plans within scope, schedule, budget, and compliance requirements.
- Provide scientific and medical insights on products, indications, therapeutic areas, and technologies to internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate scientific exchange with scientific leaders, healthcare professionals, congresses, medical societies, and academic stakeholders.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and translate scientific, medical, and business insights into strategy and tactics.
- Partner with clinical development teams on PMDA and MHLW engagement, clinical and regulatory document review, clinical site assessment, investigator selection, and patient recruitment.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of successful Medical or Scientific Affairs experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company in Japan in a global setting.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams of medical, scientific, operational, and administrative professionals.
- Experience with IND and NDA activities in Japan, NHI pricing negotiations, product launches, and pharmaceutical lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical research and development, manufacturing, commercialization, compliance, and applicable Japanese and global regulations.
- Native-level Japanese and high-level business English are required.
- Strong strategic, analytical, communication, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in pulmonary, infectious, cardiovascular, rare, or neglected diseases.
- Japanese medical license to act as an in-house medical expert.
- Experience with drug safety, pharmacovigilance, product quality surveillance, or clinical development strategy.
