IT Network Engineer

Location: On-site in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States; 5–10% travel to California, Texas, and Washington, DC, with occasional after-hours or on-call support.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure enterprise LAN, WAN, VPN, VoIP, wireless, and hybrid cloud networks.
• Enable and secure corporate, operational technology, guest, field, and other network environments in collaboration with networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration functions.
• Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other network devices.
• Apply hardening and security controls aligned with DoD STIGs, NIST, CMMC, RMF, and zero-trust principles.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root-cause analysis, and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Support audits, accreditation, certification, deployments, and field operations, including travel to other hirify.global sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of network engineering experience, preferably in startup, defense, government, or other fast-paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and software-defined networking.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and network hardware.
• Experience applying RMF, STIG, NIST, or CMMC security controls, with strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Rio Rancho, New Mexico; access to classified or export-controlled information may require U.S. government clearance, authorization, citizenship, or other eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CCNA certification.
• Experience with 802.1X, RADIUS, classified networks, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or PowerShell DSC.
• Understanding of secure enclave design and zero-trust architecture.
• Active security clearance.
