Principal Application Engineer (Financial Systems) (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid in Vienna, Virginia, United States; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Salary: $150,100–$206,450 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and optimize complex enterprise applications and financial systems.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and scalable software solutions.
• Write maintainable code, apply data structures and algorithms, and improve application performance and user experience.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, vulnerability remediation, access reviews, change management, release coordination, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, vendors, infrastructure, network, security, and database teams to resolve issues and deliver enhancements.
• Provide technical direction, conduct code reviews, mentor junior staff, and communicate platform risks, remediation plans, and operational status.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 7–10 years of application or software development engineering experience; 10+ years is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, modern frameworks, version control, Agile methodologies, and software development practices.
• Strong experience with Oracle Fusion, SQL, .NET application ecosystems, scripting and automation, Oracle Cloud, Azure, or AWS.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications subject to regulatory, audit, security, financial reporting, or operational risk requirements.
• Experience with incident response, production support, vendor-supported enterprise applications, release management, vulnerability remediation, and cross-functional technical leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech areas such as digital payments, lending and credit, treasury and cash management, accounting and ERP fintech, or capital markets technology.
• Experience with Pega Platform, Oracle Visual Builder, Oracle Integration Cloud Process Automation, or Azure Data Factory.
