Senior Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: North Austin, Texas office; ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for the Flight Software Team.
• Design, implement, test, integrate, and maintain high-reliability C++ flight software.
• Develop and maintain internal software tools using Python.
• Collaborate with engineering groups throughout launch vehicle and spacecraft development.
• Support vehicle testing and operational events, including launches.
• Deliver software on schedule while meeting functional and performance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Excellent understanding of object-oriented design and C++.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems, real-time software, and Linux.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Must meet applicable U.S. Government space technology export-control requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of aerospace software engineering experience.
• Experience with data-path pipelines, state machines, and arithmetic operations.
• Experience deploying CI/CD pipelines for C++ software.
• Experience interpreting C++ static-analysis results.
