Software Engineering Manager, Flight Software (Aerospace): Leading development of the platform that operates flight and payload systems for on-orbit satellites with an accent on reliable, scalable mission-critical services, telemetry, communications, and system orchestration. Focus on building the engineering team, defining technical direction, and solving complex reliability, performance, and embedded-systems challenges.
Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with three days per week on-site. Access to export-controlled information requires meeting applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.
Salary: $210,000–$234,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do
- Lead, mentor, and grow the team responsible for core flight software.
- Define team goals, technical roadmaps, and execution priorities.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical production services.
- Translate mission needs into requirements and technical specifications with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive design reviews, code quality, testing, observability, and other engineering practices.
- Manage staffing, capacity, hiring, coaching, and performance development.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience and 2 years managing a software engineering team building production systems.
- Significant development experience with C++, Python, or Rust.
- Strong background in embedded systems, including RTOS and/or Linux-class systems.
- Experience building and operating mission-critical products with uptime, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Must work on-site in San Jose three days per week and satisfy applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience in aerospace, robotics, or other domains involving real-time scheduling, planning, resource allocation, or critical operations.
- Experience developing in Rust.
