Senior Software Engineering Manager, Flight Software (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid, with on-site work in the San Jose, California office three days per week. Hiring is currently available in listed U.S. states. Access to export-controlled information requires meeting applicable U.S. person or export authorization criteria.

Salary: $240,000–$265,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow the team responsible for core flight software development.
• Define team goals, technical roadmaps, and execution priorities aligned with company objectives.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, performance, and observability of mission-critical production services.
• Translate mission needs into clear requirements and technical specifications with customers, ground-platform, and mission-operations stakeholders.
• Drive design reviews, code quality, testing, technical ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Manage staffing, capacity, hiring, coaching, and performance development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience and 2 years managing a software engineering team building production systems.
• Significant development experience with C++, Python, or Rust.
• Strong embedded-systems background, typically involving RTOS and/or Linux.
• Experience building and operating mission-critical products with uptime, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, robotics, or other domains involving real-time scheduling, planning, resource allocation, and critical operations.
• Experience developing in Rust.
