Software Engineering Manager, Flight Software (Aerospace)

Salary: $210,000–$234,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow the team responsible for core flight software.
• Define team goals, technical roadmaps, and execution priorities.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical production services.
• Translate mission needs into requirements and technical specifications with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Drive design reviews, code quality, testing, observability, and other engineering practices.
• Manage staffing, capacity, hiring, coaching, and performance development.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience and 2 years managing a software engineering team building production systems.
• Significant development experience with C++, Python, or Rust.
• Strong background in embedded systems, including RTOS and/or Linux-class systems.
• Experience building and operating mission-critical products with uptime, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Must work on-site in San Jose three days per week and satisfy applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, robotics, or other domains involving real-time scheduling, planning, resource allocation, or critical operations.
• Experience developing in Rust.
