TL;DR
Technical Trainer (Manufacturing & Composites) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Building and delivering hands-on onboarding and development programs for manufacturing employees with an accent on composites processes, technical documentation, and scalable digital learning. Focus on designing qualification pathways, measuring training effectiveness, and translating shop-floor data into process improvements for engineering, manufacturing, and Quality.

Location: Onsite at Firefly's Rocket Ranch in Briggs, Texas. Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

What you will do

  • Deliver classroom, small-group, and hands-on technical training for manufacturing employees with different experience levels.
  • Teach company systems, manufacturing documentation, work instructions, drawings, specifications, production records, traceability, and process requirements.
  • Train employees across the composites lifecycle, including material handling, tool preparation, layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, autoclave operations, trimming, finishing, and inspection.
  • Design onboarding and career-long development pathways with milestones, competencies, qualification checkpoints, and re-qualification requirements.
  • Create lesson plans, demonstrations, job aids, exercises, knowledge checks, curricula, video content, interactive e-learning, and digital training materials.
  • Track training effectiveness and provide data-driven recommendations to engineering, manufacturing, and Quality teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or production engineering, with direct exposure to shop-floor processes, tooling, and hardware.
  • Ability to break down complex technical work into clear, logical, repeatable instruction and present it to groups.
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain technical procedures, work instructions, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, adaptability, self-direction, and ability to work in classroom and active manufacturing environments.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under U.S. ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Manufacturing or process engineering experience developing work instructions, standard operating procedures, or process documentation.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or training technicians, peers, or new engineers.
  • Experience with adult learning, instructional design, onboarding programs, training analytics, e-learning, or LMS administration.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, HRIS, document-control, quality, or manufacturing systems.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, aviation, or composites manufacturing.
