TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Spring/Summer 2027 (Aerospace): Supporting the manufacturing, integration, and production of high-speed aircraft hardware with an accent on process improvement, manufacturability, tooling, and production readiness. Focus on investigating manufacturing issues, troubleshooting non-conforming hardware, improving assembly and test procedures, and transitioning hardware from development into production.

Location: Atlanta, GA; on-site

Salary: $25–$33 per hour

What you will do

  • Support manufacturing and process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Partner with engineers and technicians on hardware builds, integration, and production activities.
  • Investigate root causes, implement corrective actions, and troubleshoot non-conforming hardware.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, testability, and production readiness.
  • Develop and improve tooling, assembly processes, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement and the transition of hardware from development into production.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university, as a third- or fourth-year undergraduate student or a Master's or Ph.D. student.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, or manufacturing hardware through internships, coursework, research, competition teams, or personal projects.
  • Understanding of engineering first principles and interest in vehicle hardware.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, testing, CAD, technical drawings, or GD&T.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above; the hired candidate must meet U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. person or be eligible for deemed export licensing.

Culture & Benefits

  • Spring internships run for approximately 16 weeks, from January through April.
  • Summer internships run for approximately 12 weeks, from May through August.
  • Interns receive five days of sick leave and unpaid time off.
