Mechanical Engineering Intern (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, Texas; on-site

Salary: $108,000–$126,000 annualized, paid hourly, plus a housing stipend

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup rebuilding the semiconductor fabrication process and developing its own chip-making hardware, software, fabs, tools, and components.

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and build semiconductor fabrication equipment.
• Create mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Perform detailed analysis and simulations for electromechanical designs.
• Drive prototypes into production with manufacturing and supply chain teams.
• Work across structures, optics, robotics, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
• Hands-on prototyping experience and the ability to iterate quickly through design cycles.
• Experience with electromechanical assembly design and analysis through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
• Strong mechanical engineering foundation, including SolidWorks or Onshape, simulation, and materials selection.
• Ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot technical problems.
• A portfolio demonstrating built and tested projects is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with semiconductor processing such as ALD, CVD, PVD, or photolithography.
• Electrical engineering experience with KiCad, Altium, microcontrollers, embedded systems, or digital circuits.
• Experience in optical engineering, precision machine design, or vacuum systems.
