Assistant General Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs - Litigation

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid schedule with office attendance Monday through Thursday and work-from-home option on Friday

Salary: $260,000–$280,000 annual base salary plus additional equity

What you will do

• Own the corporate litigation portfolio outside intellectual property, including consumer class actions, commercial disputes, contract matters, and privacy-related claims.
• Manage government investigations and regulatory inquiries from the FTC, state attorneys general, data protection authorities, and other regulators.
• Develop case strategies, novel legal theories, early case assessments, and recommendations on litigation, settlement, or escalation.
• Direct outside counsel relationships, budgets, litigation processes, playbooks, and post-mortems.
• Advise Product, Engineering, Ads, Data/Analytics, Compliance, and senior leadership teams on litigation and privacy risk.
• Provide decision-ready reporting on litigation exposure, trends, investigations, and key disputes.

Requirements

• Substantial complex litigation experience at a top-tier law firm, in-house, or both, including consumer class actions and government investigations.
• Strong litigation strategy, outside counsel management, judgment, and cross-functional influence skills.
• Exceptional legal writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to regulators, opposing counsel, executives, and the Board.
• Ability to work effectively with incomplete facts, unsettled law, competing pressures, and ambiguous legal questions.
• Experience handling complex legal issues in a fast-paced, technology-driven organization.
• J.D. from a U.S.-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.

• Experience solving novel, first-impression legal questions and creating persuasive legal narratives.
