State and Local Tax - Sales and Use Tax Intern (Accounting)

Location: San Francisco, United States. Travel to assigned client locations is required, with reliable transportation arranged by the intern.

What you will do

• Integrate state and local tax services with existing client engagements.
• Complete tax planning and research assignments.
• Review client tax processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to reduce tax exposure.
• Work with client information technology personnel to obtain historical purchasing and sales data.
• Analyze data for reporting requirements, audit procedures, refunds, and tax credits.
• Evaluate sales and use tax software and support implementation activities.

Requirements

• At least 90 completed credit hours.
• Currently pursuing a B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree at an accredited university.
• Accounting major.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel to assigned client locations and arrange reliable transportation.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, and the ability to work effectively in a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
