Electronic Component Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas; full-time onsite. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Lead Electronics Component Engineers supporting multiple NASA projects and programs.
• Provide electrical, electronic, and electromagnetic parts support for NASA flight projects and programs.
• Evaluate component lists against hardware criticality, operating environments, derating requirements, and reliability considerations.
• Recommend replacement parts, support obsolescence reviews, and investigate component failures.
• Develop qualification plans, screening requirements, part specifications, test procedures, and Non-Standard Part Approval Requests.
• Review test data, support destructive physical analysis, and coordinate with NASA customers, test laboratories, manufacturers, and project teams.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school; a related master's degree may be expected.
• Approximately 10 years of related engineering experience; postings may be considered at multiple levels based on experience and business needs.
• Experience leading technical teams and coordinating assignments with customers and project teams.
• Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for space-flight applications.
• Experience with passive and active components, electrical test data, procurement specifications, source control drawings, and NASA-related parts documentation.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of NASA space-flight hardware processes, component failure modes, reliability theory, and failure analysis.
• Experience with military or Department of Defense high-reliability hardware, NASA component standards, and associated test specifications.
• Experience with parts management plans, destructive physical analysis, accelerated reliability testing, and parts failure analysis.
• Electronics industry sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing-process, and product life-cycle experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook.
