Electronic Component Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting NASA flight projects by evaluating, qualifying, and managing electrical, electronic, and electromagnetic components for space-flight hardware with an accent on component reliability, screening, derating, and NASA standards. Focus on leading component engineering activities, investigating failures, developing qualification plans and test procedures, and approving parts for demanding space environments.
Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas; full-time onsite. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do
- Lead Electronics Component Engineers supporting multiple NASA projects and programs.
- Provide electrical, electronic, and electromagnetic parts support for NASA flight projects and programs.
- Evaluate component lists against hardware criticality, operating environments, derating requirements, and reliability considerations.
- Recommend replacement parts, support obsolescence reviews, and investigate component failures.
- Develop qualification plans, screening requirements, part specifications, test procedures, and Non-Standard Part Approval Requests.
- Review test data, support destructive physical analysis, and coordinate with NASA customers, test laboratories, manufacturers, and project teams.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school; a related master's degree may be expected.
- Approximately 10 years of related engineering experience; postings may be considered at multiple levels based on experience and business needs.
- Experience leading technical teams and coordinating assignments with customers and project teams.
- Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for space-flight applications.
- Experience with passive and active components, electrical test data, procurement specifications, source control drawings, and NASA-related parts documentation.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of NASA space-flight hardware processes, component failure modes, reliability theory, and failure analysis.
- Experience with military or Department of Defense high-reliability hardware, NASA component standards, and associated test specifications.
- Experience with parts management plans, destructive physical analysis, accelerated reliability testing, and parts failure analysis.
- Electronics industry sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing-process, and product life-cycle experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook.
