Company

hirify.global develops a full-stack quantum computing platform and trapped-ion quantum computing technologies for real-world applications.

What you will do

  • Lead the build and optimization of metrology systems for metasurface, micro-optical, and integrated photonic components.
  • Develop methods to create, deliver, and measure light interacting with trapped ions.
  • Design and apply high-sensitivity measurement systems to evaluate optical and photonic devices.
  • Develop metrology systems for technology validation, alignment, supplier evaluation, roadmaps, and production.
  • Contribute optical engineering expertise within a cross-disciplinary team of engineers and physicists.
  • Document and communicate procedures, results, and conclusions to collaborators and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 5 years of experience in optical testing and alignment of components and systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience building, aligning, debugging, and troubleshooting free-space optical, micro-optical, or photonic systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience using Python or a related programming language for hardware control, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in optics, applied physics, or instrumentation.
  • Experience with diffractive optics, metasurfaces, photonics metrology, lasers, optical modeling, CAD, optical test equipment, fiber splicing, opto-mechanical assembly, cameras, fiber array alignment, or traceable optical validation.
  • Laboratory, production, or cleanroom experience with cleanliness and ESD awareness.
  • Experience translating optical designs, specifications, and drawings into alignment, testing, and verification setups.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration and strong curiosity about learning new technologies.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on trapped-ion quantum computing systems scaling from 98-qubit systems toward hundreds of thousands of qubits.
  • Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance, alongside an on-site role requirement.
  • Employer-subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match and student loan repayment benefit.
  • Equity opportunities, paid time off, sick leave, 12 paid holidays, paid parental leave, and employee discounts.
