Employment and Product Counsel

Location: Remote, based in the United States

Salary: $156,000–$276,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Advise the People Team and HR Business Partners on employee relations, investigations, accommodations, performance management, terminations, recruiting, compensation, and benefits.
• Review and update employment policies, handbooks, offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
• Manage employment law claims, arbitration, litigation, discovery, and employment diligence for M&A transactions.
• Support product, marketing, data, privacy, finance, and business development teams with legal guidance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, vendor, referral, licensing, master service, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Develop product compliance processes and advise on new product ideas, partnerships, and marketing copy.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant legal experience, including a combination of in-house and major law firm practice.
• At least 3 years of experience as Employment Counsel, Product Counsel, or Corporate Counsel.
• Deep knowledge of California and/or New York employment laws and applicable federal laws.
• Membership in at least one state bar, preferably California or New York.
• Experience with employment matters, consumer protection laws, commercial agreements, privacy laws, and M&A support.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ironclad, Blee, or LawVu.
• Experience in financial services regulatory areas such as insurance, mortgage, consumer lending, banking, or investing.
• Experience with CCPA, GDPR, and GLBA.
