Intern - Data Scientist (Automotive)

What you will do

• Support data-driven storytelling and visualization initiatives for the Automotive team, with GM as the first priority.
• Use internal and partner data to develop high-value audience opportunities and analytical models.
• Build, evaluate, and optimize statistical and data science models.
• Apply algorithms and statistical modeling to improve product performance and quality.
• Collaborate with data scientists, team leads, account teams, and external stakeholders to define requirements and business goals.
• Help transition development projects and data solutions into production systems.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business, data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field; an MBA or similar graduate degree is relevant.
• Basic to moderate SQL experience for modeling data and identifying patterns.
• Knowledge of marketing analytics, data science, visualization, business analysis, statistics, or market research.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and independent-working skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and manage detailed work across multiple projects.
• Availability for 20–25 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours per week during breaks and summer.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Google Analytics, Tableau, or Looker.
• Experience applying statistics and data science tools to datasets.
• Scripting experience with Python, Perl, or similar languages.
• Ability to read Java logs and XML to identify issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
