Senior Software Engineer-Backend (Automotive)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings and occasional business travel. Remote work is not available for this role in New York City.

Salary: $154,000–$187,000 annual base salary for California, Washington, and New York, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Develop interoperable digital products and systems supporting customer interactions inside and outside vehicles.
• Design and implement complex backend systems with strong scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Build and support identity, access, and profile services for web, mobile, and vehicle applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and technical leaders to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
• Apply software development standards including code reviews, testing, and documentation, while maintaining team-owned services with 24/7 on-call coverage.
• Mentor junior engineers and use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience focused on backend technologies.
• Proficiency in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby.
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Experience with identity management and directory services such as Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, Okta, or Keycloak.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, troubleshooting, and technical communication.
