Senior Backend Engineer II

Salary: $202,000–$237,500 per year, plus equity; starting compensation varies by geographic location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate modular backend services using Python, Go, Java, PostgreSQL, and a Drools rules engine.
• Contribute to technical architecture and design decisions, balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
• Integrate IPC services with the broader platform through gRPC, REST, Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI, and asynchronous messaging.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for carrier onboarding, product launches, and configuration flexibility.
• Improve production reliability, observability, and SLOs while participating in on-call support.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing, and promote effective use of agentic AI coding tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience at the Senior level.
• Strong proficiency in Go and Python; Java experience is beneficial.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, API design, and relational databases at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, GCP, or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
• Track record of building, deploying, and troubleshooting production services end to end.
• Daily hands-on experience with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
