Staff Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Remote, must be based in the Chicago area; onsite interviews may be required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $154,200–$192,750 per year

What you will do

• Define reusable, reliable, and scalable backend architectures across the hirify.global platform and integrations.
• Design and develop high-performance API-based services that meet service-level objectives and scale with business demand.
• Modernize backend systems, tooling, and legacy technology stacks across the Dealer Inspire platform.
• Promote system design, operational maturity, engineering quality, documentation, and internal developer experience.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and product teams to establish backend and integration standards.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to full-stack integrations when needed, and participate in on-call incident response and postmortems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend software development experience building and operating large-scale, highly available systems.
• 3+ years architecting and building cloud-native solutions on AWS, including production deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, gRPC, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging systems, observability, application security, and DevSecOps practices.
• Proven experience with system design, legacy modernization, technical leadership, mentoring, and communicating complex concepts.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Node ecosystem.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
