TL;DR
CMM Programmer (PC-DMIS): Developing and executing CMM inspection programs for precision additively manufactured and machined components with an accent on dimensional analysis, GD&T, and repeatable measurement strategies. Focus on integrating metrology data with manufacturing systems, reducing inspection cycle time, and advancing non-contact inspection technologies while meeting aerospace, automotive, and quality-system standards.

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, United States. Manufacturing and lab work requires extended standing, equipment setup, PPE use, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Candidates must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.

Salary: $45–$63 USD per hour, depending on level. T03 / Programmer III: $45–$54 per hour; T04 / Programmer IV: $52–$63 per hour.

Divergent develops integrated engineering and manufacturing systems for complex components and supports global automotive OEMs and US aerospace and defense companies.

What you will do

  • Develop, optimize, and execute CMM programs using PC-DMIS on Hexagon systems.
  • Operate CMM equipment and perform dimensional analysis of additively manufactured and machined parts.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T for complex 3D geometries and repeatable measurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, machining, quality, and production teams to resolve dimensional issues and improve manufacturability.
  • Support automated inspection processes and integrate metrology data with manufacturing and analysis systems.
  • Improve measurement strategies, fixturing, tooling, inspection cycle time, accuracy, and adoption of non-contact metrology technologies.

Requirements

  • Advanced CMM programming and metrology experience in a precision or high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Expert proficiency with PC-DMIS and Hexagon CMM systems or equivalent.
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and the ability to apply it to complex 3D geometries.
  • Experience troubleshooting metrology-related manufacturing problems and reviewing measurement variation and process feedback.
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, surface plates, and other precision tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in an engineering environment.

Nice to have

  • Non-contact metrology experience, including laser scanning, structured light, or photogrammetry.
  • Python, C++, or VB experience for data automation or process scripting.
  • Experience integrating CMM data with MES, SPC, or CAD/CAM systems.
  • Aerospace, defense, or high-performance automotive manufacturing experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative, dynamic, high-performing environment focused on manufacturing innovation.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, company holidays, and a year-end shutdown.
  • Paid parental leave and comprehensive HMO or Premium PPO health benefits.
  • Company-sponsored life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Equity plan, discretionary results-based incentive opportunities, and learning and development reimbursement.

Hiring process

  • Interview process evaluates candidates for the applicable T03–T05 level.
  • Onsite technical skills demonstration lasting less than 60 minutes, focused on metrology programming and analysis.
