TL;DR
Controller Integration Engineer (Automotive): Developing, testing, and integrating vehicle controller hardware and software across current, new, and major automotive programs with an accent on embedded systems, diagnostics, communication protocols, and automated regression testing. Focus on troubleshooting vehicle-level hardware and software issues, validating ECU functionality, analyzing requirements, and supporting calibration, flashing, and field-resolution activities.

Location: Milford, Michigan, United States. Hybrid work policy: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

  • Generate technical solutions through requirements specification, functional decomposition, analysis, development, and testing for current, new, and major vehicle programs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for at least one platform or application component and contribute to technical interviews and review boards.
  • Verify controller functionality on benches and vehicles, define test cases with cross-functional teams, and automate system-level regression testing.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle-level integration issues involving hardware, software, calibration, wiring, and mechatronic systems.
  • Document, investigate, and confirm resolution of hardware and software anomalies using RTC or similar tools.
  • Support algorithm requirements, calibration teams, development trips, assembly plants, field problem resolution, prototype shops, durability vehicles, and captured test fleets.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience as a Software Engineer, Programmer Analyst, Development Engineer, Release Engineer, or in a related role.
  • Three years of experience with embedded automotive systems, control systems, sensor integration, real-time processing, and systems engineering.
  • Experience with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, VehicleSpy, CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, diagnostic tools, software logs, error codes, and structured root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with calibration management using ETAS INCA and Vector CANape, ECU reprogramming and UDS, electrical diagnostic tools, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • One year of experience with Lauterbach, GreenHills Multi, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Eclipse, OTA updates, and software flashing techniques.
