TL;DR
Sr. Specialist, Vehicle Commissioning Systems Engineer (Automotive): Building and integrating vehicle commissioning systems for manufacturing, including end-of-line diagnostics, ECU flashing, vehicle configuration, and backend services with an accent on E/E architecture, UDS diagnostics, and production readiness. Focus on validating commissioning tools, improving flashing stability and cycle time, and solving production reliability challenges during pre-series builds and SOP ramp-up.
Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; onsite 4–5 days per week. Regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional business travel are required.
Annual base salary: $110,000–$135,000 USD, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do
- Own end-to-end vehicle commissioning systems used in manufacturing, including end-of-line diagnostics, ECU flashing, and vehicle configuration.
- Develop and integrate software tools, scripts, backend services, and automation solutions for factory commissioning environments.
- Integrate vehicle E/E architecture and UDS, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet diagnostics into production and testing processes.
- Drive commissioning-system readiness for pre-series builds and SOP ramp-up, including releases, configuration changes, and production stability.
- Define validation strategies, troubleshoot production issues, and improve cycle time, flashing stability, throughput, and system uptime.
- Collaborate with Vehicle E/E, IT, shopfloor systems, manufacturing teams, and external partners on scalable commissioning architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 8+ years of experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing systems, or vehicle diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle E/E architecture, ECU software stacks, and automotive communication protocols, including CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet.
- Experience with UDS diagnostics under ISO 14229 and integrating diagnostics into production systems.
- Hands-on software development experience with tools, backend services, or automation using Python, C#, C++, or Java.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, system integration, DevOps workflows, and troubleshooting in real-world production environments.
