ES Field Technician I (Environmental Services)

Location: Portland, ME, USA

Pay range: $16.75–$23.05 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Perform emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous spill cleanup, tank cleaning, drum handling, and hazmat decontamination.
• Carry out confined-space activities such as manhole entry, sweeping, shoveling, and high-pressure washing.
• Respond to customer spills and emergencies during and outside normal business hours.
• Set up and operate pumps, trailer-mounted generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet jacks, skid steers, and other equipment.
• Maintain equipment and work sites while following applicable safety policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Experience working with light and heavy equipment and responding to hazardous or non-hazardous emergencies or cleanup.
• Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training after hire.
• Ability to position oneself to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read, write, and understand operational, technical, process, safety, and quality instructions.
• Knowledge of chemicals and safety data sheets, with the ability to follow steps required to mitigate hazards.
• 0–2 years of relevant work experience; a valid driver’s license and confined-space entry certification may be required in some locations.
