TL;DR
Research Services Technologist (Lab Animal Science): Providing clinical care and managing a diverse population of laboratory animals with an accent on health assessment, breeding colony maintenance, sample collection, and research procedures. Focus on performing necropsies and euthanasia, monitoring animal health, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Location: Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Part-time, 24 hours per week (60% FTE); early morning or late evening shifts may be required.
Salary: $22.00β$38.50 per hour.

What you will do
- Provide clinical care and management for a diverse population of laboratory animal species.
- Assess animal health cases and triage emergency health conditions.
- Maintain breeding colonies and collect and process samples.
- Perform applicable procedures, including necropsy, euthanasia, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic projects, and surgical procedures.
- Troubleshoot, document, and report equipment or process issues while following guidelines and SOPs.
- Communicate findings and unusual observations to researchers and veterinarians and maintain medical records, process logs, files, and billing reports.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 4 years of experience in a professional animal care facility with a high school diploma/GED, 2 years with an associate's degree, or no prior industry experience with a bachelor's degree.
- Experience with animal handling and restraint, animal health monitoring, equipment operation and sterilization, or sample collection.
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science required within 18 months.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required; scheduling flexibility is preferred.
Nice to have
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Laboratory Animal Science, Biology, Toxicology, or Agricultural Science.
- Prior experience in the relevant laboratory animal care area.
- Experience using software tools to maintain documentation and records.
