Tech Lead Automation Engineer (Python)

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $135,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience, level, and business need. Discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits may be available.

What you will do

• Own internal automation platforms across architecture, data models, synchronization, scheduling, and roadmap.
• Design and ship full-stack features, including backend services, frontend interfaces, RBAC, and approval workflows.
• Build systems of record for assets, entitlements, usage, cost, and operational status.
• Integrate SaaS, cloud infrastructure, directory, and identity services.
• Automate onboarding, offboarding, approval routing, audit logging, and access reviews with IT, HR, and Finance stakeholders.
• Set engineering standards, evolve database schemas, maintain test coverage, and use AI coding platforms to accelerate delivery.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• End-to-end production web application ownership using Python, FastAPI or similar, relational databases, PostgreSQL, SQL, schema migrations, and frontend technologies.
• Experience integrating enterprise SaaS APIs and cloud infrastructure APIs.
• Working knowledge of RBAC, SSO/OAuth2, and directory-service group provisioning through LDAP or an equivalent.
• Experience with systems of record, inventory or asset tracking, and data dashboards.
• Hands-on technical leadership, architecture ownership, cross-functional process scoping, and daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.

• Experience with licensing, entitlement, software asset, or lifecycle-tracking systems.
