Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role for applicants across eligible U.S. states; work from home Monday and Friday and collaborate in the office Tuesday through Thursday. Employment is currently unavailable in Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Hubs are located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and Raleigh.

Salary: $148,000–$197,000 base salary annually, plus annual bonus and stock options.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain product features across frontend and backend applications.
• Own projects from technical design and implementation through rollout, monitoring, and long-term maintenance.
• Build user-facing experiences, APIs, integrations, and systems that operate reliably across client, service, and data boundaries.
• Improve performance, scalability, resilience, observability, and operational reliability using metrics, dashboards, alerting, and health checks.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to clarify ambiguous problems, define milestones, and make architecture decisions.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to code and design reviews, and raise engineering standards across the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong fundamentals across frontend and backend development, including APIs, services, user-facing applications, databases, and data modeling.
• Experience designing maintainable solutions for complex business problems and making technical decisions with incomplete information.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, cross-functional collaboration, ownership, and mentoring skills.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering throughput and quality.
• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top university.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, React, or similar modern application stacks.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure-as-code, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, or event-driven systems.
• Experience building integrations, internal platforms, data pipelines, or SaaS and vertical software products.
• Experience with Claude Code or similar AI coding agents.
