Embedded Python Data & Automation Engineer (Python)

Location: Remote from the Philippines, with meaningful overlap with U.S. business hours.

hirify.global is hiring for a client seeking an engineer to own and improve an established Python production environment.

What you will do

• Take ownership of the existing Python codebase, applications, automations, data pipelines, integrations, dependencies, and deployment processes.
• Complete a structured handover with the departing programmer and ensure continuity of technical knowledge.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot live issues, investigate failed jobs, and resolve operational failures.
• Maintain and improve data pipelines, scheduled automations, REST APIs, authentication flows, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
• Build internal tools and new automations based on business requirements while balancing new development with production support.
• Identify technical debt and reliability risks, improve documentation, and use staged deployment and testing practices.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional Python experience in a data-focused environment.
• Experience building or maintaining production data pipelines and automations.
• Strong experience with APIs, third-party integrations, authentication, and webhooks.
• Experience working with existing or legacy codebases, SQL, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
• Strong written English communication and availability for meaningful overlap with U.S. business hours are required.

Nice to have

• Experience taking ownership of systems previously maintained by another engineer.
• Experience modernizing legacy Python environments or developing internal business tools.
• Knowledge of data pipeline monitoring, scheduled jobs, automation workflows, and staged production deployments.
• Experience working directly with non-technical business stakeholders.
