Staff Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with remote work and onsite work at offices in Mountain View, Sherman Oaks, or Austin, United States. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $140,500–$249,700 annually, plus potential bonuses, incentive compensation, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and well-tested data pipelines and ETL processes using dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, and Fivetran.
• Design new data models that support business needs while ensuring availability, performance, and extensibility.
• Lead the adoption of CI/CD, data quality, observability, and other modern data engineering practices.
• Partner with Data Science, Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver aligned data solutions.
• Mentor data engineers and data scientists, participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, and guide technical decisions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and stay current with emerging data engineering technologies.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, including complex data systems at scale.
• Expert-level SQL skills and deep experience with data modeling and transformation.
• Hands-on experience with dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, including custom connector development, and Python.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery and modern data stack tools.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT, data quality, data governance, and highly available, scalable system architecture.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, mentoring, and technical leadership skills; remote employees must have adequate internet bandwidth for work processes.
