Metrology Ops and Customer Quality Engineer III (E3)

Location: Austin, TX, United States; 2nd or third shift; travel approximately 20% of the time.

Salary: $96,000–$132,000 per year.

What you will do

• Program Coordinate Measuring Machines to validate incoming supplier materials against part-print specifications.
• Design and implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for precision products and production equipment.
• Develop measurement procedures, quality standards, project methodologies, and inspection documentation.
• Analyze operational data, recommend corrective actions, and determine the disposition of non-compliant products.
• Participate in or lead internal and supplier audits, qualification reviews, and reliability-test evaluations.
• Collaborate across metrology sites to share measurement best practices and reduce qualification cycle time and cost.

Requirements

• Conceptual and practical expertise in metrology and quality engineering, with the ability to solve complex problems using multiple information sources.
• Detailed knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Advanced experience with Zeiss CMM Calypso programming.
• Experience using metrology hand tools such as surface plates, pin gages, calipers, and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, industry standards, and sketches.
• Must work on-site in Austin, Texas, and be available for second or third shift; travel is required approximately 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zeiss O-Inspect, Mitutoyo automated optical inspection, or industrial CT scanning.
• Knowledge of precision machining, secondary processes, coatings, and plating.
• Experience leading small projects and sharing metrology best practices.
