Line Mechanic 1C/2C Acceptable (Electrical)

Location: NYSEG - Geneva, New York, United States; onsite field work required

Hourly rate: $45.78-$62.68 per hour

What you will do

• Perform complex construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures, equipment, and utility systems.
• Install polyphase transformers and perform phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits.
• Carry out distribution and transmission switching, sectionalizing, and troubleshooting of grounds and opens on series circuits.
• Install instrument transformers and connect or disconnect electric and gas meters and services.
• Operate transportation equipment and direct the work of assisting linemen and groundmen.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience as a second-class lineman or equivalent qualification demonstrated through an appropriate test.
• Working knowledge of company line practices, distribution and transmission line layouts, and electrical fundamentals.
• Familiarity with company safety rules, approved resuscitation methods, and practical first aid.
• Ability to qualify for an automobile operator's license.
• Ability to pass a physical examination, including color perception, and perform arduous outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work irregular or extra hours and under unusual or special working conditions.
