Line Mechanic (Waterford, CT)

Location: Waterford, Connecticut; candidates must live within one hour of the reporting location and be available at the reporting base within approximately 30 minutes during trouble-call assignments.

Salary: Starting at $56.32 per hour, progressing according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Construct, operate, and maintain the electric distribution system.
• Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground power lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Work aloft on utility poles and on ground- and pad-mounted structures.
• Perform rubber gloving on high-voltage distribution systems up to 23 kV.
• Direct the work of other coworkers when assigned.
• Respond to trouble calls, overtime, emergency work, and emergency restoration assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of line mechanic experience for the fully qualified position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to skillfully climb poles using lineman’s climbers and perform the essential physical duties.
• Ability to obtain and hold a Commercial Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively and direct coworkers’ work.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.
