Distribution Journeyman Lineman (Electrical Utility)

Location: Tehachapi, California, United States. Onsite field work involving overhead and underground utility systems. Relocation may apply; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

What you will do

• Install, remove, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution and communication systems.
• Install and remove poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts, transformers, switches, capacitors, protective devices, and related equipment.
• Install, splice, terminate, bond, and test conductors and cables.
• Connect, test, adjust, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and apparatus.
• Work safely on or near energized lines using test equipment, tools, vehicles, and powered construction equipment.
• Collaborate with crews while instructing and directing apprentices and helpers.

Requirements

• Certified Journeyman Lineman with a Journeyman Lineman card.
• Valid Class A motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Experience working with utility poles, including ascending and descending climbs.
• Must weigh less than 285 pounds due to safety-equipment weight restrictions.
• Knowledge of electrical utility construction methods, overhead and underground materials, tools, equipment, testing procedures, and safe work practices.
• Ability to work in varied climates and confined or elevated environments.

Nice to have

• Distribution or transmission journeyman lineman experience.
• Fall Restraint Equipment experience and knowledge of State General Orders 95 and 128.
• CPR certification from the Red Cross or American Heart Association.
