Distribution Journeyman Lineman (Electrical Utility)

Location: Bishop, California, United States; onsite field work. Relocation may apply. Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, is required.

What you will do

• Install, remove, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution and communication systems.
• Install and remove poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts, piping, transformers, switches, capacitors, and protective equipment.
• Splice, bond, terminate, and test conductors and cables, and connect, adjust, repair, and maintain electrical apparatus.
• Work safely on or near energized lines and equipment using required procedures, tools, and protective equipment.
• Operate electrical test instruments, construction vehicles, and powered equipment.
• Collaborate with crews while instructing and directing apprentices and helpers.

Requirements

• Certified Journeyman Lineman with a Journeyman Lineman card.
• Valid Class A motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Experience working with utility poles, including ascending and descending climbs.
• Weight under 285 pounds due to safety-equipment restrictions.
• Ability to pass the Lineman Physical Performance assessment and undergo DOT-covered random drug and alcohol screening.
• Availability for onsite field work in Bishop, California, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Distribution or transmission journeyman lineman experience.
• Knowledge of electrical utility construction methods, overhead and underground materials, electrical circuitry, rigging, and test instruments.
• Experience with fall restraint equipment and ANSI- or OSHA-approved climbing systems.
• Experience with State General Orders 95 and 128.
• CPR certification from the Red Cross or American Heart Association.
