Associate Engineer Grid Operations Technology (Hybrid Schedule) (Smart Grid)

Annual salary: $82,800–$92,000, plus potential incentive

What you will do

• Support electric system operators by optimizing distribution networks through DMS advanced applications, including AFR, LVM, planned outage studies, and DER/load forecasting.
• Act as a subject matter expert in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding.
• Specify and configure DMS applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, and load and generation scheduling.
• Develop project approval documentation covering technical solutions, alternatives, risks, budgets, and schedules.
• Build tools and methods to process data from multiple sources and verify engineering models and databases.
• Coordinate grid modernization implementation with engineering, operations, IT, regulatory, legal, vendors, and other stakeholders across three states.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Minimum of five years of technical, operational, or engineering experience in the electrical utility industry.
• Thorough understanding of load flow, voltage regulation, power factor, losses, and load and generation modeling.
• Experience modeling electric distribution systems and manipulating large datasets for engineering analysis.
• Knowledge of DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi/CYME, plus a basic understanding of SCADA communication protocols such as DNP.

Nice to have

• MS in Engineering or MBA.
