Laboratory Technician, Microbiology (Temporary Contract, Afternoon Shift)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite laboratory position

Salary: Up to CAD 18 per hour

What you will do

• Register incoming samples and maintain accurate daily, quality-control, and regulatory records.
• Enter sample data into the Eurofins eLIMS system and complete microbiology testing accurately and efficiently.
• Verify results, submit them for transmission, and meet sample turnaround-time targets.
• Follow SOPs, local work instructions, quality-system requirements, ISO/IEC 17025 and AOAC ALACC standards, and applicable regulations.
• Identify process difficulties, non-conformances, and out-of-specification results, reporting issues and proposed solutions to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment while communicating with clients, staff, and coworkers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in microbiology laboratory techniques, including aseptic techniques and sample preparation.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, applicable test methods, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and laboratory safety.
• Laboratory safety and WHMIS training, basic computer literacy, and strong organizational and communication skills.
• Availability for the afternoon shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, including overtime, weekends, and holidays when required.
