Laboratory Technician Environmental

Location: 185 Concession St, Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. Onsite laboratory role with rotating day, evening, and occasional weekend shifts. Relocation support is not available for candidates relocating to the Peterborough/Lakefield area, and public transit is limited. Candidates applying for Canadian openings must be authorized to work in Canada.

Salary: CAD 19–20 per hour; starting base salary of CAD 19.50 per hour.

What you will do

• Receive, identify, log, catalog, store, retrieve, dispose of, and return environmental samples.
• Prepare samples, dilutions, standards, and reagents; set up analytical batches and perform analysis.
• Use LIMS accurately and maintain sample records.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, record calibration data, and monitor maintenance and supplies.
• Perform batch quality control, interpret results, report discrepancies, and follow laboratory protocols.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and support other environmental laboratory areas or special projects as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or a related science program is an asset.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to follow work instructions accurately and safely, handle samples and laboratory equipment, and work under pressure during high-volume workloads.
• Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and laboratory information systems.
• Strong communication, time management, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Availability for rotating day, evening, and occasional weekend shifts; extended hours and travel to other hirify.global or client locations may be required.
