Principal Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include San Jose, San Diego, and Seattle

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of AI-native agentic workflows for engineering productivity, observability intelligence, and operational excellence.
• Architect and build intelligent agents for observability, automated root cause analysis, anomaly detection, and engineering productivity optimization.
• Integrate agentic workflows across telemetry pipelines, application stacks, and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop AI-driven tooling that accelerates development, reduces operational toil, and improves MTTR.
• Apply LLMs, reasoning frameworks, and advanced AI patterns to automate debugging and system diagnostics.
• Partner with engineering, platform, cloud operations, research, and product teams to embed intelligent automation into CI/CD, DevOps, and support workflows.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep exposure to AI/ML systems in production.
• Proven experience building AI agents, LLM-driven systems, or autonomous workflows.
• Strong Python programming skills and expertise in at least one of Java or Go.
• Experience with distributed systems, telemetry data, and observability architectures.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, model evaluation, agent orchestration, reasoning frameworks, and AI-assisted development.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience building agentic systems for observability, automated remediation, or intelligent diagnostics.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, distributed tracing, or similar observability stacks.
• Experience integrating LLMs into production workflows with guardrails and evaluation mechanisms.
• Experience designing multi-step reasoning workflows and autonomous decision agents.
