Principal Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Define the architecture for an enterprise AI agent platform, including service boundaries, data models, API contracts, runtime design, and integration patterns.
• Build agent orchestration, knowledge bases, retrieval over enterprise data, tool-calling, and multi-cloud execution systems.
• Develop reliable developer-facing APIs, SDKs, and tooling for external customers.
• Lead technical execution through engineering standards, design reviews, technical decisions, and delivery coordination.
• Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical quality bar.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience, including 7+ years working hands-on with fault-tolerant, highly scalable cloud architectures.
• Strong server-side engineering experience with one or more of Node, Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Production experience building RESTful APIs and microservices backed by SQL and/or NoSQL data stores.
• Experience designing distributed systems or cloud-native products, building CI/CD pipelines, and applying cloud security fundamentals including authentication, authorization, encryption, and compliance.
• Ability to make technical decisions under ambiguity and communicate effectively with executives, engineers, product, and leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI agent systems or LLM-powered products using tool calling, RAG, and prompt orchestration.
• Knowledge of agentic design patterns, tool-use protocols, context management, multi-step reasoning, and grounding models in enterprise data.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, developer-facing products, SDKs, enterprise infrastructure, cloud data services, or storage systems.
• Experience building a new product inside a larger company or serving as a principal engineer or technical lead.
