Principal AI Engineer

Location: 100% remote anywhere in the US

Salary: $200,000–$220,000 annually USD, plus US employee benefits and annual bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Set technical direction across multiple services and engineering teams.
• Define AI platform patterns for agent orchestration, tooling, governance hooks, and evaluation surfaces.
• Design and build production systems in Python across the AI stack.
• Own reliability, testing, CI/CD, operational, and quality standards across teams.
• Advise engineering teams and embed with them to deliver complex, high-value functionality.
• Mentor engineers and influence staffing and roadmap priorities.

Requirements

• Principal-level hands-on technical leadership experience with broad architectural responsibility.
• Deep expertise in Python, backend service development, production APIs, and cloud-native event-driven systems, preferably on AWS.
• Experience building GenAI and LLM applications using RAG, embeddings, prompting, guardrails, and managed model platforms.
• Expertise in agent orchestration frameworks and tool or context protocols such as MCP.
• Experience with relational, key-value, document, and warehouse data stores, async data access, and schema migration.
• Knowledge of application security, identity, automated testing, developer tooling, infrastructure as code, containers, CI/CD, observability, and LLM evaluation.
