Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote nationwide in the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $156,600–$215,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Build AI-powered applications, services, APIs, reusable frameworks, and autonomous agents for enterprise quality engineering.
• Develop scalable, secure, production-ready software and integrate AI into software development and testing workflows.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and prototype solutions for the Enterprise Quality Intelligence Platform.
• Provide architecture guidance, technical leadership, and mentorship across engineering initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, product, security, and data teams.
• Establish practices for AI development, governance, security, observability, and software lifecycle management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12 or more years of experience designing and building enterprise software applications, services, or platforms.
• Production experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting AI-powered applications using large language models, generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, APIs, distributed systems, modern design patterns, secure software development, DevOps, CI/CD, and observability.
• Ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives from concept through production and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Ability to work from a dedicated space with internet service supporting at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, while protecting member PHI and HIPAA information.

Nice to have

• Experience building multi-agent or agentic AI systems and enterprise developer platforms.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or equivalent enterprise AI platforms.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Experience in healthcare, financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
• Familiarity with responsible AI, AI governance, model risk management, data privacy, and enterprise AI security.
