Director of Economics (Energy)

Location: Findlay, Ohio or Houston, Texas, United States; anticipated travel: 10%–20%

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of economists.
• Oversee corporate industry and macroeconomic forecasts and communicate insights to senior executives and business partners.
• Provide market data, competitive assessments, optimization support, and strategic counsel across the business.
• Evaluate economic models for market demand, commodity prices, operational margins, and other quantitative deliverables.
• Coordinate scenario planning, risk identification, sensitivity analysis, and scenario evaluations.
• Partner with compliance, government affairs, refining, business development, and other organizations on energy markets, regulatory policy, and capital investment projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Economics, Energy Economics, Applied Economics, or a comparable program.
• At least 10 years of experience applying data-driven insights to real-world problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Commanding knowledge of econometric theory, the energy industry, and refining processes.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, critical-thinking, data-analysis, and strategic-planning skills.
• Ability to engage with executive leadership, senior leaders, and external audiences on forecasts, market research, and scenario planning.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in Economics, Energy Economics, Applied Economics, or a comparable program.
